What is a wedding invitation website, and how does it work?

A wedding invitation website is your Shaadi interactive card as a link. Instead of a printed card or a single picture on WhatsApp, your guests open one link on their phone and move through your beautiful interactive invitation page by page: your names, every function, the venues, your photographs and your song, with a way to tell you who is coming. Here is how it works, what goes in it, and what to keep in mind if you are thinking of one.

What a wedding invitation website is

It is a small website made only for your wedding. It opens in any phone’s browser, like any other link: there is nothing to download and no account to make. A good one feels less like a website and more like a short story your guests tap through, with music, gentle animation and one page for each part of the celebration.

Because it is a link, you can send it the way you already talk to family: in a WhatsApp chat or group, on Instagram, by SMS, or by email to relatives abroad.

What goes in it

  • Your names and photographs: the bride and groom, often with the parents’ names in the traditional way.
  • A page for every function: haldi, mehendi, sangeet, the shaadi and the reception, each with its date, time and dress code.
  • A map for each venue: guests tap once and their phone opens the directions.
  • The families: the names you want your guests to see, from both sides.
  • Your song: music that plays as guests move through the pages. It can even be a song made with your own names.
  • RSVP: guests tell you whether they are coming, and to which functions, straight on WhatsApp.
  • A thank-you page with a photo of the two of you.

How your guests open it

You send one link. When a guest taps it, the invitation opens full screen on their phone, usually with a cover they tap to “open”, like the doors of a palace or the flap of an envelope. From there they scroll or tap from page to page. Older relatives do not need to learn anything new: if they can open a link on WhatsApp, they can open the invitation.

The same link also works on a laptop or a tablet, which helps relatives who like to see things bigger, and it never runs out: guests can open it again on the day to check the time or find the venue.

Website, video or printed card?

Each has its place, and many families use more than one.

  • A website holds everything in one place, can be changed if a time or venue changes, and lets guests RSVP. It is the most useful one for the guests.
  • A video invitation is lovely for a WhatsApp status or Instagram, but it cannot hold every detail, and it cannot be changed once it has been sent.
  • A printed card is still the right gift for the elders who expect one in hand.

A common choice is a website for everyone, a short video for social media, and a few printed cards for the family.

How to get one made

With Pexlumi it works like this:

  1. Pick a design. Each design has a live sample you can try on a phone view or a laptop view, exactly as your guests would see it.
  2. Fill in your details on the design’s page: names, functions and photos. You can send the essentials first and add the rest later with your private link.
  3. We reply on WhatsApp with the price, and then send you a private preview of your own invitation.
  4. Ask for changes until you love it, then share one link with everyone.

Questions families often ask

Can our elders use it? Yes. It opens like any link they receive on WhatsApp, and the pages are made to be read easily on a phone.

Can we change it after sending? Yes. If a time or venue changes, tell us on WhatsApp and we update it: the same link shows the new details, and nobody needs a new card.

How many guests can it have? Any number: the same link works for 50 guests or 5,000.
